I developed a passion for justice and equality at a young age, as a daughter of two professors who believed in championing for equal education standards. In nursing practice, I began to observe the disparities that existed between the knowledge minorities of color had about their health, as well as the care and treatment they received in acute care settings. In 2013, through research about gender equality and gender equity, I was awarded the DISCOVER© Global Women’s Initiative. My research and work shed light on how gender equality leads to gender equity and the impact it has on the global economy. In an effort to combine both nursing and the law, I relocated to Chicago for an opportunity at the prestigious and nationally ranked medical malpractice law firm, Clifford Law Offices. There I worked under the direct mentorship of a stronger litigator and firm partner, assisting them in winning the largest medical malpractice verdict in Illinois in 2014 and other multimillion-dollar medical malpractice verdicts and settlements, inside and out of the courtroom.
I am an attorney who specializes in trial advocacy, civil litigation, health law, compliance. Additionally, as a professional nurse attorney, I have served in countless ways as a consultant and expert witness in complex medical malpractice and medical-legal cases. By analyzing and making recommendations regarding health law issues, I help bridge the worlds of medicine, nursing, ethics and the law.
